We Need to Do Right and Know What Is Wrong. |
As Christians we even the most trivial choices need to be made with God’s consideration in mind. The bottom line is that as apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:31 “whether you are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory.” So many decisions to marry or remain single, a very important choice in one’s life because it requires choosing the right person to marry, and to be one’s lifelong partner. Not a small matter at all especially with the divorce rate. Our choice of friends, business associates, the entertainment we go see, our recreation activities, our job, and our habits all play a significant role on our eternal welfare and spirituality. We cannot as Christians choose what is right and what is really right, thus we must not choose what is wrong. We cannot allow our Bible standards on morality to be put aside to make room for the so called new morality. We must express our concerns in all areas that take prayer, the bible out of context. Not to put down the rich and famous, but unfortunately many of them do not follow any virtues like honesty, and trust in their own pursuit of power and profit. Many cut corners, and have no moral principles. Unfortunately, it is not just the elite, but many of us fall into this category and fall short of the grace of God because of it. Remember, just labeling yourself as a Christian will not offer you all that comes with it if you are disobedient. The “anything goes” attitude will not help any of us get closer to God, and if you subscribe to the notion that “just listen to your heart” or “do what you feel is right” is not in anyway one of the Bible principles. That is why it is so important to know what pleases God. We need to remind ourselves before we make a choice if the choice we are about to make will be pleasing to God. We need to bring our standards higher. We need to be obedient. We need to ask ourselves (WWJD) What Would Jesus Do. Once we can do this then we know what righteousness is all about. We cannot look at the Bible as a list of do’s and don’ts, what we need to understand is that all scripture is inspired of God so that it can set us straight, teach us, and allow us to use it in our daily lives. Once we are equipped with God’s word it becomes very easy to make split-second decisions and choices and be in full control of our mind, flesh, and do what God would want us to. By having full control of our senses and body members and keeping our ear gates, nose gates, mouth gates under control then we can turn away any immoral materials, degrading music or speech. It is so very important that every time we are faced with a decision, we should learn to use our mental powers to discern what Bible principles are involved and how they can be applied. We must develop the habit of doing research in the Bible, develop friendship and rapport with our Pastors in order to combat any wrong choice. It is the study of God’s word, coupled with prayer that will guide us to making the right choices. ___________________________________________________ Domingo Ivan Casañas is a Contributing Columnist for HispanicVista.Com (http://www.hispanicvista.com/).
