Gratitude Means So Very Much to Me

 By Domingo Ivan  Casañas/HispanicVista.com
    October 21, 2005

Thanksgiving, gratitude, and being grateful.  Such powerful words, simple to say, simple to read, simple to write.  However, many in our society today are too busy or are too much in a rush to put these words into action.

To me these words are so precious because I am so grateful for the freedoms that I have in this country the United States of America.  I was born in Cuba where freedom no longer exists.

Would our world be different today if everyone would give thanks, show gratitude and be grateful for what they have?  Would the world be a nicer place to live in, if we could be polite and give thanks for what others do for us?  Could we feel inspired listening to others give Praise and Thanks to our Creator?  By showing gratitude for what we should be thankful for, would our world have higher morals than the moral decay we are currently experiencing?

I truly believe that the answers to all this questions above would be YES!  If we as human beings could show our thanksgiving in a grateful way with much gratitude our world would be a better place.  Remember it is never too late to start. A chain reaction may start and we would soon experience the positive aftermath of gratitude all over the world.

In March 2004 I came close to dying during a five by-pass open hear surgery.  I came so close to death that I thought I would not be able to be there for my three children.  As a single father of three great teenagers I have so much to Thank God for.  My children are  my joy and ever since March 2004 I am more Thankful than ever for being able to share my life with them.  My thankfulness to my Savior Jesus Christ is so powerful that I know He feels my gratitude of being alive and healthy.

However, there is no reason to wait until a life or death situation occurs to be thankful that you made it. Instead, being thankful and grateful and showing gratitude should become an everyday happening for all of us.  Think about it, we have so much to be grateful for. Get a pen and a paper out and start writing what you are grateful for, and you will see that things that we don’t even think about on a regular basis will start appearing on that piece of paper.  Praise God for what you have, instead of constantly asking for more.  Your act of gratitude will be rewarded and others around you will feel that you are so Blessed.  So as you Spend another day in your life show Thanksgiving to others, show them that you are smiling because you are grateful to be alive and your gratitude will show others that they too can follow your example.

My prayer for all of us right now, is to have a spirit of thankfulness in your heart.  Don’t be shy to show it to others.    Be grateful for your freedoms, your relationship with Jesus Christ,  your children, your home, your job, the love you feel, your material possessions, your marriage, your health, your family, and your surroundings.  My prayer is also for those that might be missing some of the previously listed things to be thankful for.  May

you also find what you should be grateful for and show others that your gratitude is just as strong as of those that you might feel “have it all”.

Remember that we can all make a difference in other peoples life when we show others that we appreciate them, that we care about them and that we are grateful to them, since they are making a difference in our life’s.  So I leave you by giving you my sincere appreciation for allowing me to share with you how I feel about giving thanks, being grateful and knowing that you too can start on this same path of gratitude.   Once you start on this path, your gratitude will begin to make others feel better about you and about themselves.  May God Bless You!
