Deja vu all over again

By Raoul Lowery Contreras/HispanicVista.com

When California Republican Governors deployed the National Guard along the California Mexican border in the 1980s and 90s, illegal immigrants came by millions. The yapping right of the immigration issue is getting 6,000 Guard troops on the border.

When the legal “Bracero” Mexican guest worker program was ended after 20 years by American labor unions through their puppets in the Kennedy/Johnson administrations, illegal immigrants from Mexico started their border jumping in large numbers at the border between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico.

When the Clinton Administration bowed to the immigration right by deploying Border Patrol agents shoulder to shoulder in El Paso and by constructing a fence of surplus air strip steel mats between San Diego and Tijuana, the mass deaths of men, women and children in the Great American Desert began.

When new President George W. Bush announced a program to issue legal work permits based on a free market-based labor demand, the immigration right began its campaign to smear Bush and his supporters, while never offering an intelligent alternative to the problems of (A) Those illegals already here. (B) Filling huge labor shortages in many parts of the country. (C) Stabilizing the border so that crossing would be legal for most legitimate border crossing Mexicans.

The immigration right is led by leaders in the form of Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, a Vietnam War evader who claimed mental illness to avoid service and Wisconsin Congressman F. James Sensenbrenner, Junior, heir to a personal feminine hygiene fortune and California Surf City Congressman, surfer Dana Rohrabacher.

Tancredo is dismissed by every commentator as to what he is, a self-proclaimed mentally ill draft evader. In fact, there are instances of Colorado war veteran elected office holders who will not appear on the same dais as Tancredo, so insulted are they by his active draft dodging while Americans were dying in Southeast Asia.

Sensenbrenner, Junior, has no claim to fame other than his daddy and grand-daddy made millions. He is Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee because Newt Gingrich term-limited committee chairmen out of office forcing former Chairman Henry Hyde out. Sensenbrenner replaced Hyde by seniority, not brains.

Surfer Dana Rohrabacher recently had to return a $23,000 “fee” from a criminal for a screen play that was never developed. Most polite people would call it a bribe. More importantly, Rohrabacher has joined the fight against the President and the Senate with intemperate comments about Mexicans and illegals that thoroughly manifests raw hatred of Mexicans, the law and the Constitution.

For example, Rohrabacher suggests that illegal farm workers from Mexico be replaced by California convict labor. He would unleash convicted criminals out to society to pick our food. He would violate the 13th Amendment to the Constitution that prohibits slavery by forcing convicts to work in the fields just as in Southern chain gangs of old.

All three of these psuedo-representatives of the people publicly reject all compromises with the President or the United States Senate.

Tancredo supported Minuteman congressional candidate (American Independent Party) Jim Gilchrist in Orange County, California, who voters rejected at the polls in a special election. His two candidates in another California special election for Congress were slaughtered, as were each and every single primary candidate he supported around the country in 2004.

Prominent California Republican Congressman Darrell Issa has publicly demanded that Tancredo be expelled from the Republican Party.

Sensenbrenner, Junior, wrote a section into his immigration bill that would turn millions of men, women and children into felons by their very presence in the country. He would change a misdemeanor of not speaking to an immigration officer at the border, an infraction punishable by six-months in jail, into a felony. His bill would also make felons of 6-month old babies.

When Sensenbrenner figured out that such a provision was unacceptable to most Americans, he tried to have it removed but was thwarted by a solid Democratic congressional phalanx that properly sensed an issue the American public would never buy.

Sensenbrenner blames Democrats for the felony provisions, provisions he personally wrote into that legislation that barely passed in the House last December with his solid backing.

Rohrabacher told a Fox News audience on Saturday, May 20, that the proposals for Guest and Temporary worker program supported by the President and the U.S. Senate would NEVER be accepted by the House of Representatives. Funny, he obviously can’t count. If Sensenbrenner could not get a majority to delete his stupid felony proposal, what makes this Huntington Beach congressman who takes money from crooks know better than the U.S. Senate and the President?

Rallying against the President of the United States, the majority of the United States Senate and a majority of the American people – as evidenced by every single national survey showing over 60 percent of all Americans supporting a guest worker program—we have self-proclaimed mentally ill draft dodging Tom Tancredo. We have F, James Sensenbrenner, Junior, whose claim to fame is his family made millions with sanitary napkins and an over-the-hill surfer who takes money from crooks and wants to return to slavery to pick out food.

These people have had their way before. National Guards were sent to the border and they failed. A legal guest worker program was ended because American unions wanted farm work for their members. How many native-born Americans work the farms of California and the West? When President Clinton built a wall of Border Patrol agents and surplus steel matting, hundreds, thousands of people, men, women and children died.

The U.S. Senate and the President are right. The congressmen are wrong.
