The war on terror does not speak Spanish

The war on terror does not speak Spanish

With Israeli tanks firing their cannons into Lebanon and troops massing on the Lebanese border in response to invasions by the Moslem fanatics of “The Army of God” – Hezbollah -- into Israel, American attention is focused on that front of the War on Terror.

Israelis are dying by missile attacks; Israeli soldiers are kidnapped and held prisoner in Lebanon. The government of Lebanon is too weak to control the Southern Lebanon countryside ceded to Hezbollah in 2000 when Israel abandoned this security area to Hezbollah.

Is there anyone who legitimately questions Israel’s right to fight back to defend itself and its people from these fanatics?

Is there anyone who now compares the movement of Mexican nationals across the border into the United States seeking work and better wages than in Mexico to the invasion and true assault on sovereignty by Hezbollah against Israel?

Critics of the natural economic movement of people flowing towards job markets that need workers in our free market system cry that these “criminals” and “invaders” are violating our sovereignty. Is this true?

Are these Mexicans like Hezbollah swearing on the “Good Book” that they will obliterate the United States as they would Israel? No, they aren’t.

Are these Mexicans shelling and shooting missiles into American border cities like Hezbollah does every day in Israel? No, they are not.

Are these Mexicans outfitting Mexicans with suicide bombs and blowing up Americans in restaurants, churches or on the streets? No, they are not.

Are these Mexicans attacking schools as Moslem fanatics did in Russia and murdering hundreds of children? No, they are not.

Are these Mexicans marching on the streets carrying AK-47s and wearing military uniforms to show the world that they are a military to contend with? No, they are not.

Despite the ignorant misstatements of critics of Mexican legal and illegal immigrants of those who hit the streets a few weeks ago to protest the draconian House immigration bill of Kotex millionaire F. James Sensenbrenner JUNIOR, the protesting Mexicans were not illegal aliens. Scientific surveys taken of the protestors by legitimate organizations conclude that the vast majority of those on the streets were legal and mostly natural born U.S. citizens.

At the same time, critics of Mexican immigrants despair that the immigrants are an “invasion” of the United States. Now, we see what a real invasion by Hezbollah is and can see with our own eyes that an invasion involves military troops, weapons, and at least one leader “Nasrallah” plus command and control from the nations of Syria and Iran. Given that such is a real invasion, we can objectively see that what Mexican work-seeking immigrants are doing is not an invasion.

It is simply a migration of men and women seeking work. They do so illegally because the current legal situation does not respond to the labor market. The only thing that responds to a shortage of American labor is labor willing to work.

Until Congress addresses the labor shortage by allowing willing employers to hire willing employees one will see surveys showing that huge segments of the American work force are working illegally not because Americans won’t do the work, but because there aren’t enough Americans willing to work.

Proof of this comes from the very critics who hate Mexicans and scream “criminal” aliens. In their silly and juvenile rants they point to a Pew Hispanic Center survey that shows national percentages of illegal alien workers in various industries. The average is 25 percent or so of illegal alien workers. See, they state, Americans are willing to do work illegals do, thus, illegals are stealing American jobs.

The truth, of course, is that the national illegal alien percentages in the various industries do not reflect local conditions, nor do they do anything but actually prove that there aren’t enough Americans willing to work or willing to work in the surveyed industries.

Example: If 30 percent of Phoenix residential construction workers are illegal and there is little unemployment among Hispanic, white or black males, who would staff the crews building houses in one of the fastest growing cities in the country? Ditto Las Vegas…Ditto San Diego and Orange Counties.

We are not being attacked by illegal alien Mexicans nor are missiles terrorizing American border cities. American tanks are not hunting Mexican terrorists in Tijuana. Those things are happening today in Israel.

On the other hand, at this very moment, Mexican illegals are building American housing, feeding the American population and doing so gladly for wages they consider to be more than adequate. Most of us are happy with their work because we directly benefit, they are happy with their pay. The only unhappy people are the critics who base their position on things other than the free market and economics.

The same cannot be said in Israel that built a high-tech fence to keep out their enemies and watched it fail. Will we learn from Israel’s experience?

The War on Terror continues. It does not, however, involve the Mexican workers around us.
