A Mother’s Betrayal |
|
In Texas, she prances in front of cameras surrounded by others like her spouting anti-Bush chants, anti-war bromides and taking left wing whining to a new level, a very low level. She demonstrated in support of a homegrown terrorist lawyer when she was convicted of supporting terrorism. Cindy Sheehan’s son, Casey, died in Iraq. This is the only reason we know who Cindy Sheehan is. Casey wasn’t a draftee, he was not drafted to fight a war against his will; he volunteered. He didn’t seek his mother’s approval, he volunteered for the Army totally on his own and, probably, against his mother’s wishes. Further, he re-enlisted while in Iraq for another three years in the United States Army. He was, according to all reports, a good American soldier. His mother does not measure up to her son’s standards, nor even to her family’s. Cindy Sheehan insults the memory of her son. She insults fellow Americans who are Jewish by declaring our efforts are directed to further Israel’s illegitimate goals. She insults mothers who have lost sons, husbands, brothers and cousins to all wars including the current operations around the world against the very people who root Cindy Sheehan on. Does she speak for all or most others who have lost loved ones in the war? No. Does she represent the American people in demanding immediate withdrawal from Iraq? No. Does she represent anyone but a tiny anti-Bush segment of radicals who bleed anti-Bush every moment of every day? No. Frank Rich, a self acknowledged Jewish New York Timesman comes to her defense by attacking Bush’s Karl Rove and Swift Boat “smear” tactics while ignoring her documented anti-Semitism. He challenges the “smear” not because it is false, but because it is news. His very attempt to trivialize the Swift Boat Veteran campaign against John Kerry as a smear flies in the face that many of their allegations against Kerry were true. After all, Kerry never was in Cambodia in 1968 despite declaring that his incursion into Cambodia at the orders of “President” Nixon was “seared” into his brain. Of course, Nixon was not President and Kerry was not in Cambodia when he said he was. Without Swift Boat Veterans, would we have known that “war hero” Kerry received a Purple Heart for being wounded by grains of rice in his rear end while no enemy was within miles? Would we have known that Kerry received a Silver Star for shooting an unarmed 16-year-old Viet in the back? So much for Frank Rich’s inelegant New York Times published McCarthyism. Why shouldn’t the American people know that Cindy Sheehan is an anti-Semite? Why shouldn’t the people know that she refuses to pay taxes? Why shouldn’t the American people know that her own family disagrees with her on these issues? Why shouldn’t the people know that she has met with the President and that all those present at that meeting disagree with her characterization that the President didn’t cry enough to suit her anti-war tastes? Why shouldn’t the people know who is providing her with funding and support for her little camp out in Texas? Why shouldn’t the people know that she is staying in a motel at night when the cameras are off? Her left-wing background is interesting especially when one considers how it may have motivated her son to join the Army and to re-enlist. Compare the national coverage to that of Francisco Suarez de Solar’s anti-war activities since his U.S. Marine son died in Iraq. Suarez de Solar’s whining made some local news but the fact that his son was also a volunteer, loved the Marines and was, in fact, a Marine ready to go wherever the President sent him, the whining was pretty localized. Facts revealed that Suarez de Solar was paid for his anti-war declarations. That exposure harmed him despite his defenders stating that he didn’t spend any of the money. The revelations exposed his concern for his son’s death as trite and paid for sentiments. Left wing apologists came out of the woodwork to support him and to attack those who were critical, but they had to do so with lies and baloney. One radical college professor wrote that this uneducated (by American standards), non-English speaking Mexican immigrant (ten years in the USA) was a great political activist in Mexico but provided no documentation. Statements that this man was educated in an elite Mexican military academy were not documented. Despite no record of any public statements by this man before his son joined the United States Marines without needing any permission from his father, we were led to believe that he has been an anti-war activist even before he was paid for his comments by the usual left-wing suspects. Money talks. Unlike, Cindy Sheehan, Francisco Suarez de Solar has never received the attention she has despite the common loss of a volunteer American fighting man in Iraq. He, after all, doesn’t speak English. The media slavishly attends to English-speaking radicals, especially in August when nothing else is going on. They do so because they are lazy and because they agree with Cindy Sheehan and her anti-war, anti-Iraq war views that her own son didn’t subscribe to or with. Cindy Sheehan doesn’t think America is worth fighting for; too bad those of us who have served and fought including her son. Cindy Sheehan and Francisco Suarez de Solar know better than we do-- though they have never served. Moreover, they didn’t support their own sons in their beliefs that this country is worth fighting for, anytime, anywhere. Cindy Sheehan and Francisco Suarez de Solar betray, insult and demean the lives and deaths of their sons. Because they do, they should be ignored, as should their defenders.
