Hiram Johnson Turns in his Grave |

|
Could Governor Johnson ever have imagined that the California public employee unions would take over the state with “forced-at-gunpoint” monies stolen from their own members? Would Progressive Republican Hiram Johnson have tolerated the California public employee unions that are running wild today calling the present Governor liar, liar and liar? He never would have approved these unions in their present forms and with their present influence in state and local governments. He crusaded against special interests. 200-million dollars or more are being spent by the unions and their allies like dim-witted Nancy Pelosi (who masquerades as a House Minority Leader in the U.S. Congress) to defeat every state proposition on the ballot this coming Tuesday that is supported by the Governor. The two most important propositions are # 75 and #77. Prop. 75 asks the voters to trim the ability of public employee unions to spend member’s forced dues on political races union leaders favor despite a possible divergence from the individual member’s views and positions. It requires unions to seek and receive individual permission from members to use their money for political races. Prop. 77 asks the voters to approve a new legislative redistricting process that takes that political life and death process away from state legislators and hands it over to a bipartisan panel of three retired judges screened and chosen after a complicated process by state legislative leaders. It requires that new districts be compact, geographically sensible and party registration irrelevant. For months, the television airwaves have been assaulted by actors and partisan public employees funded with forced dues dollars that have called Governor Schwarzenegger a liar, or accused him of broken promises and that he isn’t “the governor we voted for,” as if any of these lemmings voted for him to begin with. The commercials are fraudulent, they lie and deceive and are funded with millions of stolen dollars. The people who paid for these commercials are liars, plain and simple. The same is true of the opponents of Prop. 77. That includes any republicans like Congressman John Doolittle who joins Nancy Pelosi in opposing Prop. 77 Interestingly, an old retired judge--Judge Wapner, of the People’s Court, and Communist/Liberal turned conservative commentator and crusader, David Horowitz, are assaulting us on the airwaves with truly dumb, stupid and deceitful ads against Prop. 77, that are far below any dignified and civilized political approach. Both Wapner and Horowitz are lying through their teeth. They both decry Prop. 77 because it will give “un-elected” judges total political power and control. That is not true. In fact, when the judges are done with their work, their results will appear on the next statewide ballot for approval or rejection by the people of California. We know from public filings that Horowitz made his silly and inaccurate ads after $120,000 changed hands, presumably to his “non-profit” Los Angeles group. As for Wapner, who knows? From personal knowledge, this writer recalls that Wilson Riles, former California Superintendent of Public Instruction, was paid $90,000 to make a television commercial opposing a tax increase proposition on the 1998 ballot. Judge Wapner claims to have done his silly television commercial for free, but one wonders if some “non-profit” he is associated with might have received an infusion of funds that won’t show up until next year’s tax filings, if ever. So, the money flows, mostly by union leaders protecting their legalized theft and from ultra-liberals that control the state redistricting process and refuse to let the people have a say in the redistricting process. One recalls that in 2002, one man, a liberal Democratic congressman’s brother did the actual redistricting for all legislative seats in California. Incumbents paid him $20,000 each to draw a district they couldn’t lose in. In last year’s election not a single district changed party hands even among open seats with no incumbents. Lastly, that same liberal district carver made sure his own brother—Congressman Howard Berman of the famous West Los Angeles cabal of liberal Democrats—would never face a strong Hispanic challenger to his lifelong lock on his liberal district that had become a Hispanic-majority district in recent years. He did so by simply kicking out Hispanic voters into another District. Hispanic voters cheated by the Berman brothers and union members whose money is stolen plus civilized California voters must step forward on November 8th and vote yes on Propositions 75 and 77. No monies were paid to this writer or any of his charities for these opinions.
