Are You Ashamed Yet?
By Steven J. Ybarra, JD

In the last five years, we have watched silently as our constitutional rights have been taken away bit by bit in the name of patriotism.  Samuel Johnson said that patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels.  He pretty much nailed it.

Since we were attacked on 9-11, we have managed to attack a country which was not a threat, set up concentration camps in Cuba, torture the prisoners we captured, incarcerate without due process hundreds of persons and fail to bring to trial the same number.

The question of the day is - are you ashamed yet?

I like to watch the History Channel.  It is unbelievable to see how the Nazis took advantage of the politics of fear to bludgeon the people into submission. [Now do not get me wrong there was a lot of Jew hating that was built into that society so it made it easy for a country to attack a minority that was defenseless.]  Today, it infuriates me that we in America have been bludgeoned into believing that if we oppose the Bush policies the secret police can come and get us and send us to Gitmo.

I know this is an effective policy, I have watched it affect my family and friends who caution me to not speak out because they figure the (Nazi) jackboots will come knocking on my door.

I am tired of being quiet.

The reality is that we now are faced with the flag waving fascists who say that the military is the best to decide the foreign policy of America!

Senator Clinton says in order to believe General Pretender we must suspend belief.  In response, Giuliani took out a full-page ad to attack Senator Clinton this past week.  He feels that no one should attack the military agenda; what kind of President is he going to be?  The issue should be who in their right mind is going to buy this Vietnam stay the course domino theory of fighting a war?

Since when did this country start working for the military and not the other way around?  Last, I heard, the civilians were in charge of the military not the other way around.  Policy is set by the Congress.  America - tell your congressional representatives to start setting it!

I said it years ago. You do not change a government from without, it must come from within.  Iraq is not a country it is a BOPSAT (that is a bunch of people sitting around a table).
In the course of Bush the lesser being in charge, we have destroyed a country, made another the number one heroin exporter, and established fear as the way to run a country.

Enough is enough.

Come on people, get up off the couch, and get to the streets.  Our brethren are already in the field!  In Washington, D.C., one hundred and ninety brave people have taken the movement public!  During the Vietnam War when the first arrests started someone asked me what would happen if they arrest us all, I replied then there will be no one outside.

I am forever loyal to my country, but I am not loyal to this war-mongering democracy destroyer and his administration who leads it.

It is time for civil disobedience.  I will leave it to you to decide the manner (see Thoreau).

It is time to take back our country.
