Protests to Be Held During White Supremacist Conference

Protests to Be Held During White Supremacist Conference Near Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. Area

HERNDON, VA-On Feb 22-24, when prominent white supremacists from the US and across the world gather at the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel for a biannual white supremacist conference, anti-racist activists will be there to demostrate against their event.

According to a release by a new, Washington, D.C.-based organization called Resistance and Solidarity, the organizers of the American Renaissance conference call for a white supremacist society and political order. "American Renaissance (AmRen) editor Jared Taylor even states: 'If whites permit themselves to be displaced, it is not just the high culture of the West that could disappear but such things as representative government, rule of law and freedom of speech, which whites usually get right and everyone else usually gets wrong.'

American Renaissance is a monthly magazine promoting an agenda of white supremacy through eugenics, faux science, and what they call “race realism.” In attempts to appeal to the middle and educated classes of white America, AmRen seeks to establish scientific “truths”, such as eugenics by creating non-existent links between race and IQ, and race and the predisposition to “negative social behaviors”. AmRen advances the racist beliefs of “ Racial differences in IQ, the costs of “diversity,” the challenges of non-white immigration.” One quick glance at their website reveals articles with titles like: “A Defense of White Racial Consciousness”; “The Biological Realities of Race”; “Multiculturalism and the War Against White America”; and “The Color of Crime.”

Conferences in years past have attracted current, and former members of hate groups such as David Duke and Don Black, the operator of a “prominent” white supremacist website stormfront.org; members of the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens, of which Taylor is a member and whose own conference has attracted past speakers as Sen. Trent Lott and Rep. Bob Barr; and members of the neo-fascist British National Party. It is especially known for attracting those who have conservative leanings that hold government positions. Michael Regan, a NY state prosecutor, was fired after attending the 2006 AmRen conference. That conference was held at the Dulles Hyatt, who has said they will never allow such an event to be held there again. To date, the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel is allowing this conference to go forward.

Many attending the conference have also not only participated in the current campaigns against immigration and in support of neo-confederacy. Jared Taylor on the American Renaissance website also attacks the Jena Six controversy as "a contemptible fraud" and decried whites who praise the Rosa Parks when she passed on, saying that it was "just another chapter in the lemming-like rush to destruction whites everywhere appear to have joined."

Resistance and Solidarity, says they are "a DC-based collective opposing racism, fascism and the cruelties perpetrated by the capitalist system". They are calling on anyone opposed to racism and hate to join them in protesting the racist hate at AmRen Conference. To date there are reports that the Jewish Defense League will be holding a demonstration against the conference. They have no affiliation whatsoever with Resistance and Solidarity and are acting independently.

One People's Project is an anti-racist organization that monitors and reports on groups and individuals both mainstream and fringe that engage in hate politics. More information can be found on such groups and individuals at www.onepeoplesproject.com
