LATINOS ENDORSE OBAMA

Politics as usual has changed with this presidential campaign. The youthful exuberance of the Kennedy years are back in our political process with an overall feeling that things can be better in the future and life will improve under new leadership.  Senator Barack Obama has been able to instill in the public the belief that “change” is indeed possible in the political process and in our country.

We as Latino’s have the most to gain from a new approach to the political process.  The unknown has always carried risks as well as the greatest potential for reward. This was the case with the election of Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy who both had no executive experience. The tone set by our leaders reflects our country.

Special interests have ruled Washington for far too many years and it is time for real reform that will help the people in our communities.  Improvement in education, immigration reform, and a healthy economy are the major issues with which our community is most concerned.  By having refused campaign contributions from special interests, Obama is best positioned to bring about change in these areas.

Many young Latinos that had lost interest in the political process are now invigorated and actively campaigning across the country for Obama.  By going out to the polls in record numbers in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Illinois, Virginia, Connecticut and Florida, the Latino community has the potential of electing the next president of the United States in the fall.  This is a very exciting time indeed.

With enthusiastic commitment we, as part of the Latino community in California, endorse the candidacy of Senator Barack Obama for the Democratic party nomination for U. S. President.
