On a Real Science to Confirm Equality…And Dignity |
From the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain Unalienable Rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Do we still believe this? Do we still care? Possibly the most quoted sentence in political history; it’s also the most frequently challenged by everyday realities as everybody notices when, for example, immigration problems put it under the magnifying glass. It would often seem that the full right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness depend not on whether you are a man, but on which side of the border you were born, even to get a license. But what it really depends on is on how you are looked upon; on whether you are God’s image, or the offspring of an ape! Or, are we forgetting that having those rights endowed by our Creator exclude belief in Evolution? Evolutionary nonsense ―which had obviously to be disguised as science― was intended as a preemptive attack on this very Declaration. Once you become foolishly convinced of being an apie instead of God's image, what sort of stand can you oppose the restless and unrelenting tyrants at large that ―as their predecessors have done― intend to fill pages of world history with the enslavement of people ―or should I say animal offspring― like you? Do animal offspring have rights? Should they have equal rights? You’ll have to concede something is fishy here! It has the stench of a natural broth for cultivating racial supremacy theories in which no one may deny a hungry lion a gazelle, or any other animal group its prey at the first show of collective animal strength! Being equal by legal fiat under the law doesn't seem very convincing either, not without a God given dignity to sustain it. So… What we have in this magnificent phrase from the Declaration of Independence is a dire need to further substantiate it in man's very nature! Let us give it a try without abandoning Penrose’s “The Emperor’s New Mind” which carried us quite far in my previous article "Save to disk, Save to soul, and Purgatory". As there mentioned, there’s an additional reason for selecting Penrose, as a bestseller stands a better chance for being in your library already for consultation. In God’s Image? Finding the Trinity! In page 384 under the heading "split -brain experiments", Penrose analyzes a question that makes him wonder: "Do we have two separately conscious individuals both inhabiting the same body?” Penrose is referring to the way a brain split in half by neurosurgeons, by cutting the physical connections between the two cerebral hemispheres reacts under questioning as two entirely different individuals. He refers to a certain split-brain subject called P.S. who, being questioned had his left cerebral hemisphere expressing his wish to be a draftsman; and the right cerebral hemisphere desiring to become a racing driver! Two vocations as opposed from the standpoint of dangerous living as are to be found! It would be difficult to find two more different persons. This experiment was published in 1977, and was taken up by Penrose in his 1989 book. Yet, neither the original three publishers headed by Wilson, nor Penrose, could make anything out of it. It has remained as a curiosity and Penrose himself moves farther away from a solution when he states: “In some way, the original single consciousness has bifurcated”. As we shall see below the process is the opposite: not one, but three different persons inhabit each individual! So the truth is that three different persons converge, for the makeup of each individual!-The problem here lies in an equivocal use of the word “person” which we apply to EACH individual. And far from being mad, it’s the Gospel! Far from being insane, its first appearance is in a single line of Genesis (1:26) where The Only God speaks using the plural referring to Himself and to Adam: “And He said: Let Us make man to Our image and likeness”. Most intentionally, Genesis makes a whole story to separate Adam from Eve in time, and requires an express petition from Adam to bring Eve into the picture, so the “we” must refer its image and likeness to Adam alone! Furthermore, to impede any confusion in this very same sense, Eve is not created like Adam, she is cloned from Adam’s rib. More distinctly, and pointedly still, we have the plural applied again, this time in John 14;23: “Jesus answered, and said to him: If anyone love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and we will inhabit in him”. All this, which sounds truly incredible, is the supreme reality of man; created in a single body but with a Trinitarian soul to be inhabited fully by his Creator, to unite each one of us to Him; not superficially, but to the fullness of His Trinitarian Being! The Trinity, thus, is not a split within the Godhead, but the Mystery of His being which He chose to share with us. To unite with us. To unite us to Him. Instead of being the key to an ever splitting chaos, it’s the key for understanding the uniting power of love into oneness. The wholeness of a single reality in God giving birth to similar concepts in science which seeks unity with true unending faith, and coins words and phrases like: Holon, hologram, General Unified Theories, and Theories of Everything. Pascal’s genial intuition, without needing to catastrophize a human brain had observed: “Le coeur à des raisons que la raison connaît pas.” (The heart has reasons which reason knows not). He thus found two different reasons, persons, and in them man as we know him, capable of acting “most unreasonably”. Before taking up the subject of why there have to be three, and not only two persons in man, let’s take up more relevant material from the same subheading in Penrose’s book: The split brain experiments shed light on the differences between cerebral hemispheres. It was found out, that the word (speech) belonged to the left hemisphere. Before P.S., there was a widespread belief that the right hemisphere was incapable of the word, and thus, not fully a person. It was with P.S. that it became fully accepted that both hemispheres could understand words, and thus, were persons in full. Later, P.S.’s right hemisphere learnt to speak also! Having established this, we can better understand the Gospel: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). What a surprise to find out that the Person speaking in Genesis, The Word who created all things is precisely the Person who Incarnated to give up His life on the Cross and resurrect on the third day! And, just as stated in my previous “Save to disc,…” for all this knowledge to be also “most modern and right”. And with it the reason as to why Penrose et al failed to make something out of it: full understanding can only come through Catholic Christianity. Science without religion is finally hopeless, and blind. Before going any farther, let us establish the three models to be considered. The first refers to the Trinity in God Himself. God is perfect, and thus the agreement between the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost is perfect. In our second model, which refers to the Trinity in man, we have the opposite ―because of the devastation of Original Sin― there’s open conflict which, interestingly, helps us to define the personality and the roles of the Trinity in Man, in each of man’s three persons. In our third model we find, not surprisingly, that there are only three different powers, (as there are functions) and that all are needed for a single government. Relevantly, in every case the father is the legislator, and the Judge is the son in full agreement with the Christian gospel as stated in John 5:22 : "For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son". The Judicial Power is also born from the Legislative, and the same is true for every judge who cannot come into being on his own, but requires the law from the legislators to begin judging. He thus receives with the law from the legislator his very existence as judge; thus his sonship! The agreement here, with the Gospel, is also perfect: "I cannot of myself do anything. As I hear, so I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of Him that sent me". (John 5; 30). Just like the Judicial Power is "sent" by the Legislative. From this standpoint, the Gospel is the best treatise on constitutional principles. The role of the Holy Ghost also "sent" as the executor, or Executive Power can be admired by His efficiency from Pentecost on. Also from John 16: 7-15, the Judge must finish his job before the Executor can come to perform His; and when he's come amongst his functions we find full representation of government, as He is the persuader, the teacher, and the representative who receives from both the legislator and the judge his instructions and his very being. The point here is that speaking of persons, that to be so require above all being complete, we find ourselves enlightened by another concept from Catholic theology called circuminsertion which is easy to explain from our government analogy. Each power of government must perform all functions, thus inserting into its own procedure functions from the other two in a circular way between the three; thus the name "circuminsertion"; just consider how the legislative power has to Judge on the convenience of passing a certain law, and must execute its full form down to the least publishing detail. The way the judicial power has traditionally exercised a legislative function is by setting a precedent, which is the way law tends to find its final form. It must also execute its own sentences. In a similar way, the executive power exercises discretion, and judgment, to be applied to executive action; and also fills legislative loopholes in the exercise of its functions. The three are in command. The government is a single government. Unity is kept. Profiling Through Conflict LET’S CALL HIM JONES Or pin on him whatever name you wish to represent the common man. But in this case, to analyze his Trinitarian soul he will be referred to as Jones F(Father), Jones Jr, and Jones Sp (Spirit). Each one of them must be a person in the sense of knowing and willing on his own. Original sin, having left its catastrophic imprint will facilitate analysis from this standpoint, as it gives us the opportunity to analyze Jones F vs. Jones Jr, and the havoc it can bring upon Jones Sp. When we address Mr. Jones we establish no distinction between Jones F, Jones Jr and Jones Sp. We don’t, even though we know that Mr. Jones has a conscience. He has an internal legislator who tells him the difference between right and wrong. This person is Jones F. And Jones has an internal Judge, a corrupt fellow in varying degrees. This person is Jones Jr. As a Judge, he’s capable of inverting all values, of justifying all conducts rejecting the voice of his legislator conscience. As judge he’s well versed in the practice of justifying for himself another drink too many, another vice, and even worse! He is very well known, amongst other things, for negotiating with his conscience in order to get away with his own vision of things. And for feeling remorse. And undoubtedly, Jones has a will, his CEO, his executive, Jones Sp. -A will to be carried away by his corrupt judge to make nil of another drink, of another vice, and even to try and get away with murder! The will tends towards the best, but is always dependent on the evaluation as presented by Jones Jr, whose function is precisely to guide him, and the first who can fool him in what passes for errors of judgment. Well, he is not altogether subservient as Pascal already noticed. The heart as imperial will has “his” own reasons which reason (Jones Jr) knows not. We’ve experienced this every time we bang our heads in a “Why did I have to do, or say that!” Jones Sp is also influenced by Jones F, the Legislator; by deeply ingrained habit, by previous feedback. Our will can be sometimes mysterious or silly even to ourselves. Love and hatred? They are there, basically unreasoned; or rather, with a reason that reason knows not! Love and hatred are Jones Sp specialty, they clash in his dominions. This internal Trinity of persons is necessary to explain our inner conflicts, conflicts which could never arise otherwise, and which a single person (remember we have introduced a distinction between “person” and “individual”-arithmetically a contradiction) could never have. Here lies the explanation of moral liberty, of redress which is far above the animal kingdom. Here lies the explanation as to how an internal person can judge for or against another. Let’s take a closer look: Jones vs. Jones vs. Jones To better understand the Trinity living in Jones, an alcoholic’s plight should suffice. The rebelliousness of Jones Jr as judge is manifest in his continuous lying through his judgments to his will (Jones Sp) and to his legislator (Jones F): “One more drink is good, and that will be all”. The clash against his conscience is continuous. Executed by his will (Jones Sp) drink after drink, Jones is no longer Jones; he’s Jones vs. Jones. What this can do to Jones Sp, his will, can be seen in statistics of wasted lives, divorces, maltreatment of minors, car accidents; and in extreme cases, suicides. There’s nothing strange here. The moment Jones split in hatred, Jones found its fruits: hatred is death as much as love is life. Love, not sex, which as intense pleasure can be as addictive, and “self conflicting” for the Jones vs. Jones vs. Jones syndrome of self destruction. The internal harmony on which Jones loving Jones depends has been broken, it’s now a contradiction. Love is gradually becoming hatred and contempt; Jones Sp, led to hatred is beginning to harbor both, murderous and suicidal inclinations. Jones F firmly demands his judge’s conversion, destruction of his vices; Jones Jr the destruction of his legislator. Jones Sp the destruction of both by suicide. When not led radically towards love; hatred, so evident in the intolerance between Jones F and Jones Jr will become Jones Sp’s dominant passion. The very same moment Jones lost his innocence he departed from his Trinitarian harmony for a struggle demanding definition amongst the drama and the trauma of his internal wars, without which, peace would reign in the world. Sin creeps in, takes its toll as self correction loses ground. Jones’ better judgment rejected saying to his fatherly conscience: “All things whatsoever the Father hath, are mine” (John 16;15) In order to state the opposite: “There’s nothing of the father in me”. He said it voluntarily, drink after drink: “I want nothing to do with my fatherly conscience”. He said so by his works, executively. His suicide: faster, halting, slower; short or extended in time lacked correction in actions. It illuminates the power of works and the emptiness of faith without them. The spirit, Jones Sp, always has the last word in construction or destruction, choosing finally by its actions between heaven and hell. But redress comes by judgment when repentance leads back to the father as unshakeable conscience to rule. From original sin onwards, it’s the judge which requires redressing. Thus, it was the Son who Incarnated in man. His is the fundamental redressing on our behalf if we follow him. God’s Trinitarian Mystery is no less of a mystery in individual tripersonal man. There’s nothing strange in God’s oneness in His perfect harmony; it’s we who are almost unbelievable as the Jones vs. Jones vs. Jones we sometimes are! And the trinity in man turns out to be essential in self denial, as we are dangerously berserk and suicidal through judgment without it. The Trinity as the Fundamental Construct in Science The action of the Triune God has left His seal on all creation. In confirmation, and for a better understanding, it is useful to add a few more examples of analogies ―which being from poor to miserable are still better than nothing― to underline the importance of the Trinity. Fundamental principles which we use reflect within time the Trinity, a comparison with the balance sheet everybody knows from accounting comes in handy to "explain a functional equivalent" reflecting action, work, the will, the spirit as in Jones Sp. To begin with we have only three components for each balance sheet to be complete; in the same way three were required as different functions, and movers, for a single government. In the balance sheet we would have capital to represent the Father, liabilities to represent the Son (as receiver from the father -no way for liabilities to exist without Capital), and assets to represent the Holy Ghost (The general Executor or CEO). In assets capital and liabilities are intermingled in order to put all the company's functions into action. Debits and credits require the action of setting them down as equals one after the other. This action reflects execution to keep within a Trinitarian composition: debit, credit, and action to set them down. In economics, to give another example, our supply and demand curves intersect on the price which is the executor as we can observe by the fact that price movements trigger increases and reductions in supply and demand. Another example is to be found in logic where the major premise and the lower premise produce a conclusion. In other words, God, being Trinitarian, has put his Trinitarian seal in all his work of creation. To give another example from physics, particles and waves as opposed as they are, require the intervention of the Holy Ghost to produce what physicists have called the "quantum jump" for the miracle to occur, for the passing from infinite potential to actual reality. And examples would be unending. The universe is indeed a Trinitarian construct, and it's the Trinity of the only one God that can explain all of it. As Jesus Christ told Italian mystic Luisa Picarreta circa 1940, “In the future, the gospel will be preached through science”. We can now begin to see why. So, above and beyond all prejudice, it is the Trinity in man that answers the “in what” we were created equal. It’s our souls that were created in God’s image. It’s our souls that deserve the compliment of having been endowed by their Creator with certain Unalienable Rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".
