Absolute Immunity

U.S. drug users: Main cause for Mexico’s bloodbath

By Sal Osio, JD
From the Publisher's Corner
May 1, 2008

The legal doctrine of absolute immunity, codified into law universally, grants criminal prosecutors and judges total protection from legal accountability of any kind, regardless of the maliciousness and willfulness of their conduct, in the course of their discharge of their function as prosecutor or judge. The victims of their intentional fabrications, withholding or concealment of evidence, prosecutorial misconduct, lies, procurement of perjured testimony and outright misconduct during the prosecution and trial of a defendant, have no recourse.

It’s time to take the gloves off and lay the responsibility for the bloodbath taking place on a daily basis in Mexico where it belongs – U.S. drug users.  Mexican style Mafiosos are killing each other along with Mexican police officers, judges, prosecutors, journalists and innocent bystanders be they adults or children to gain transportation corridors from which to smuggle illicit drugs into the waiting hands of U.S. drug users.

The Pope: God Bless America!

   FROM MEXICO

Recently, the United States gained a new world record: Having the largest prison population of any country in the world.

It is also of note that far more than half of the total prison population in the US is for drug related offenses. And in the US, unlike México, the drug related prisoners are mostly from the lower end drug offenses (local suppliers and possession of small amounts of drugs). In México, they tend to go more for the high-end drug chiefs.

Since political demographers started measuring in-depth voting patterns in 1972, they have shown us that white Roman Catholics Americans have voted for the winning presidential candidate every election since.
Concurrently, in each and every election since 1972, the Republican candidate who reached or exceeded 35 percent of the national Hispanic vote has won. Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Bush I and W. – Republicans all -- have been elected by white Roman Catholics, in tandem with Hispanic voters who are, as we know, mostly Roman Catholic.

New efforts to hide police misconduct

Real ID, States and Cities

SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
By John Diaz

The law enforcement lobby is going a bit crazy in Sacramento these days. It's working to overturn Supreme Court decisions that affirm the right of you – the taxpayers who pay the salaries of public safety officers – to know who they are, how much they are being paid and the extent of their disciplinary records.

Migration News

Real ID.  Before the September 11, 2001 hijackings, 18 of the 19 terrorists had obtained, legitimately or by fraud, IDs such as driver's licenses that allowed them to board planes and travel.  The Real ID Act of 2005 required states to require new applicants for driver's licenses and state ID cards to verify their legal status, and to re-verify all US drivers by December 2014 (three years later for those over 50).

Obama's Anger

By Linda Chavez

The Catholic Church in America has always been an immigrant church. No wonder that Pope Benedict XVI has given special attention in his first visit to the United States to the issue of immigrants.

By Ed Kaitz

The anger is real. It is powerful, and to simply wish it away, to condemn it without understanding its roots, only serves to widen the chasm of misunderstanding that exists between the races.” Barack Obama

Absolut canard

Demonstrations for immigration reform could backfire this year

By Gregory Rodriguez

If I didn't already prefer Ketel One vodka in my martinis, I might very well call for my own boycott against Absolut…. Not because I agree with the knuckleheads who fear that the Swedish company's advertisement featuring a map of the American Southwest as Mexican territory is fueling ethnic secessionism…

By Raul Ramos y Sanchez

For the third year in a row, supporters of immigration reform are planning to take to the streets in May Day demonstrations across the United States. But given the unique political landscape of the presidential race, this could be a risky course for proponents of la causa.

Enforce tighter border, employer verifications Candidates, Congress, Polls

By Barak Obama

One of my fundamental beliefs is that for too long we have had a politics of division and distraction in Washington that's stopped us from coming together to bring about real change. There are few better examples of how broken our politics has become than the immigration debate. Just last summer, we saw comprehensive reform fail in part because of bitter partisanship.

Migration News

The presumptive major party presidential candidates, John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barak Obama, have proposed or endorsed comprehensive immigration reform, meaning stepped-up enforcement to prevent more unauthorized foreigners from arriving and a path to legal status for most of the 12 million unauthorized foreigners in the US.  McCain was a leader in the Senate's  effort to enact immigration reform that was approved…

The US Presidential Election Unfolds in Mexico

Migration News

The number of immigrants "admitted" to the United States fell from almost 1.3 million in FY06 to just over a million in FY07.  Most of these immigrants are already in the US, and immigration would have been higher if DHS had more quickly cleared the backlog of applications for green cards awaiting approval.

Democratic Party activists Dee Dee Camhi and Larry Canady say enthusiasm is running high among the rank-and-file membership. Welcoming an infusion of new members, local chapter meetings draw between 30-60 people. What sets Camhi’s and Canady’s branch of the Democratic Party apart from many others is that it is located outside the United States,

The U.S. economic downturn and beefed-up border control

By Nicole Gaouette

TUCSON -- Michael Chertoff was in the driver's seat of a white Chevrolet Tahoe, under the glare of high-powered lights ringing Border Patrol headquarters. It was 10 p.m., 15 hours into the Homeland Security secretary's workday.

By Ken Ellingwood

The U.S. economic downturn and tightened border controls have begun to alter the rhythms of undocumented migrants who used to move back and forth with regularity, which has crimped the flow of money sent home to Mexico, one of the nation's main sources of foreign income.

Tijuana News
Fronera NorteSur

Lengthy waits, lost time and frayed nerves have been the order of the day for many people attempting to cross into the United States from Mexico at land ports of entry in recent years. From Matamoros to Tijuana, border residents complain of lost business…

 Editorial By Investor’s Business Daily

Trade: The Three Amigos at the summit in New Orleans this week shouldn't have to restate how much NAFTA benefits their nations. But now under fire, the leaders will have to defend free trade like any freedom.
