The legal doctrine of absolute immunity, codified into law universally, grants criminal prosecutors and judges total protection from legal accountability of any kind, regardless of the maliciousness and willfulness of their conduct, in the course of their discharge of their function as prosecutor or judge. The victims of their intentional fabrications, withholding or concealment of evidence, prosecutorial misconduct, lies, procurement of perjured testimony and outright misconduct during the prosecution and trial of a defendant, have no recourse. |
It’s time to take the gloves off and lay the responsibility for the bloodbath taking place on a daily basis in Mexico where it belongs – U.S. drug users. Mexican style Mafiosos are killing each other along with Mexican police officers, judges, prosecutors, journalists and innocent bystanders be they adults or children to gain transportation corridors from which to smuggle illicit drugs into the waiting hands of U.S. drug users. |
Recently, the United States gained a new world record: Having the largest prison population of any country in the world. It is also of note that far more than half of the total prison population in the US is for drug related offenses. And in the US, unlike México, the drug related prisoners are mostly from the lower end drug offenses (local suppliers and possession of small amounts of drugs). In México, they tend to go more for the high-end drug chiefs. |

The law enforcement lobby is going a bit crazy in Sacramento these days. It's working to overturn Supreme Court decisions that affirm the right of you – the taxpayers who pay the salaries of public safety officers – to know who they are, how much they are being paid and the extent of their disciplinary records. |

|
|
By Gregory Rodriguez If I didn't already prefer Ketel One vodka in my martinis, I might very well call for my own boycott against Absolut…. Not because I agree with the knuckleheads who fear that the Swedish company's advertisement featuring a map of the American Southwest as Mexican territory is fueling ethnic secessionism… |
By Raul Ramos y Sanchez For the third year in a row, supporters of immigration reform are planning to take to the streets in May Day demonstrations across the United States. But given the unique political landscape of the presidential race, this could be a risky course for proponents of la causa. |

By Barak Obama One of my fundamental beliefs is that for too long we have had a politics of division and distraction in Washington that's stopped us from coming together to bring about real change. There are few better examples of how broken our politics has become than the immigration debate. Just last summer, we saw comprehensive reform fail in part because of bitter partisanship. |

By Ken Ellingwood The U.S. economic downturn and tightened border controls have begun to alter the rhythms of undocumented migrants who used to move back and forth with regularity, which has crimped the flow of money sent home to Mexico, one of the nation's main sources of foreign income. |

Editorial By Investor’s Business Daily Trade: The Three Amigos at the summit in New Orleans this week shouldn't have to restate how much NAFTA benefits their nations. But now under fire, the leaders will have to defend free trade like any freedom. |
