Don’t Be a Sucker

To Be or Not To Be ... a Republican

First They Came for the Jews
In the past, our government realized that racism and xenophobia actually made our country less secure, not more. Check out Don’t Be a Sucker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VLbqt99YVA&eurl=   from 1947 warning against the dangers of intolerance.

The 17 minute 1947 mini documentary provides an insight that is today evident once again. Though those who lead today’s charge claim they are not against “immigrants” or “immigration” look beyond their words and note how they say “our culture” is in danger, “Our American way of life” is in jeopardy; “They don’t want to assimilate.”

This is to hide the real targets of their modern day nativism is the 40 million Hispanics.

To Be or Not To Be ... a Republican

If you are an emancipated woman, free of religious indoctrination, who values a woman's right of choice on issues such as abortion ... you are not a Republican.

If you are gay and believe that you are entitled to the same social contract and rights as a heterosexual couple, free of discrimination based on your sexual preference ...  you are not a Republican.

If you believe in the Constitutional guarantees of free speech, freedom of the press, against false arrest, unreasonable search and seizure and a fair trial ... you are not a Republican.

Senator Kerry is not the Best and the Brightest!
By Raoul Lowery Contreras

Massachusetts Senator John Kerry is a liar and an idiot. His bitter attack on anyone shocked by his slam at those serving in Iraq was hysterical at best and stupid at worst.

He totally insulted those in uniform by evoking that if they had just done their homework and studied harder they might succeed in life instead of serving – "being stuck" in Iraq. This from a man whose test scores and grades in college were lower than either former Vice-president Al Gore or President George W. Bush.

   FROM MEXICO

Baghdad on the Rio Bravo

News Item: The Iraq government has removed an entire brigade of Iraq police from service for investigation and "training". There is reasonable suspicion that the police were complicit in the actions of militant insurgents.

Now shift to México. A company in my area, who exports sophisticated consumer products, arranged for factory training for service of a product for one of their US distributors. Suddenly, a short time before the personnel to be trained were due to arrive, the training of the US personnel was canceled. Instead, the distributor asked for a training video be made and sent to them.

Still waiting for an apology

A nationwide internal Social Security audit into double-cashing of checks that began in September 2003 establishes once again the notion that fear mongering anti-immigrant racists have fueled a campaign of hate against the undocumented.
According to a report published by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the 12-month audit highlighted Milwaukee as ranking second in illegal transactions, more than “all but one other office in the country, which is in Memphis, Tenn.”

It’s tough to believe that you can live with the same wife for forty-eight years and still find she has secrets. I thought I had discovered all of them by now. For example, she had convinced me that I didn’t pay attention to her clothes and jewelry. Every time, I thought I saw her with a new dress or piece of jewelry, I’d ask, "Is that new?"

Latino Education: Improving Literacy
By Manuel Hernandez-Carmona

United States population numbers continue to defy all census projections. While the emphasis has been on the three-hundred million milestone, Latinos continue to quietly grow at a rate of about one-million per year. There are already almost seven-million Latino children in American schools. There is no doubt that something must be done…

Winter Calls on Tancredo to Sever Racist Ties

Colorado politicians warn about consequences of neglecting Latin America

Centennial, CO - Bill Winter, candidate for U.S. Congress, today called on Rep. Tom Tancredo to sever his long-standing ties to racists and white supremacist organizations.  Winter is calling for Tancredo to return all of the donations he has received from a litany of well-known leaders in the White Power movement, to repudiate hate groups with whom he has associated, and to publicly denounce their support.  Winter also challenged Tancredo to make a public pledge to never again accept donations or appear with groups or individuals that have known racist ties and to denounce the objectives and message of these organizations.

Colorado politicians warn about consequences of neglecting Latin America
Chamber of the Americas

Two prominent politicians from Colorado warned this morning about the negative consequences for the United States if the American foreign policy keeps ignoring and neglecting Latin America…. Former Senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart, and Congressman Mark Udall (D-Colorado 2) spoke on “United States Policy towards Latin America” at the Chamber of the Americas’ Executive Forum Breakfast, with almost 100 business people, diplomats, and elected officials in attendance.

Somewhere along the road to a "permanent majority," the Republican Revolution of 1994 went off track. For several years, we had confidence in our convictions and trusted that the American people would reward our efforts. And they did.

But today, my Republican friends in Congress stand on the precipice of an electoral rout.

Patrick Osio, Jr. has written,  The Mexican Perspective: Establishing Personal & Business Relations by Understanding Their Culture & Protocol,   a short but intensive E-book on the Mexican perspective on numerous issues between our two countries.
